Story

Mindful living guides me in how I relate to everyday experiences, others, and myself. I live a rich, fulfilling life, whatever is happening inside and outside of me.  

 Growing up in Japan and living in Bali  from the 1990s to 2010s, I cultivated deep connections to the Zen principle of being in the moment and the Balinese approach of living in harmony with nature.

I practiced Zen arts of calligraphy, Ikebana flower arrangement, and tea ceremony while living in Japan. Once I moved to Bali, I studied Balinese mysticism: the alchemy of Hinduism, Buddhism, and animism. I received a spiritual name, Surapsari (the heavenly dancer in a Balinese myth), from a Balinese high priest.

To better understand Balinese mysticism, I studied ancient Indian wisdom that led to my in-depth study of Ayurveda and yoga. I became a certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor and 500-hour Yoga Teacher and continued training in both fields in India.

I taught Balinese mysticism, meditation, Ayurveda, and yoga in the U.S. (my adoptive country), Japan, Bali, and Mexico.

The passing of my husband left me in a place of pain and uncertainty. My intuition told me that the way to get through the tough time was to stay with whatever was happening at the moment. I embraced a kaleidoscope of emotions through meditation, Zen arts, nature walks, and other mindful practices.

After my retreats and pilgrimages to India, Sri Lanka, and Japan,

my heart was open to the deep love and beauty unfolding everywhere.

With the passing of my husband, my old self also died. "How do I want to live the rest of my life?" became my essential question.

 

Service was the answer.

Helping others learn mindfulness and create a rich, rewarding life has been my lifework. Assisting people in rough transitions with the mindfulness approach became the core of my service. I have been promoting mindful living through life coaching,

Holistic Wellness and Mindful Art classes, silent retreats, and other services.

It is my pleasure and honor to witness others become more mindful and

be able to touch the beauty and love that life offers at each moment.

Life Coaching

Board Certified Coach (certified by the Center for Credentialing and Education). Certified Professional Coach and Purpose Clarity Coach (recognized by the International Coach Federation, the leading authority in the coaching field). Facing the Mourning Facilitator (certified by the HeartLight Center in Denver, Colorado). Mentor service at the Girl Forward, the Austin NPO that supports teenage refugee girls’ life transition.  


Retreat & Meditation

15 years of experience in offering meditation classes and guiding silent retreats in the USA and Bali. Guest teacher at Anand Krishna Ashram and The Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali. Meditation training at Nanzenji Zen Temple in Kyoto, Japan and Sivananda Ashram in India. 
 

Mindful Art

Studied Japanese calligraphy, Ura-Senke style tea ceremony, and Ryuseiha style Ikebana flower arrangement in Chiba, Japan. 7 years of experience in teaching mindful art. 

 

Ayurveda 

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor (certified by American Institute of Vedic Studies in New Mexico). Advanced study at The Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico and Kerala Ayurveda in India.

Yoga

500-hour certified yoga teacher (200-hour training with Yoga from the Heart in Florida + 300-hour training with Integrative Yoga Therapy in Texas). Advanced study at Sivananda Ashram and Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in India.
